What children's book would make a great gift?

Help! Which childrens' books would make great gifts?  I have nieces and nephews ranging from 2 to 12, and would love to get them books this year.  Any suggestions? Thanks!

My wife works at a school library and the kids love to read "Captain Underpants".

My boys, ages 2 & 4, love Click, Clack, Moo  Cows That Type.  It's a very cute book.  Dooby, Dooby, Moo is cute, but not anywhere near as cute as Click, Clack, Moo.

For little girls, nothing beats the Fancy Nancy books, and the Junie B. Jones series is great, too!

My daughter and I really enjoyed the "Frog Princess" series by E.D. Baker.  They have a fun twist, instead of a kiss turning the frog into a prince, the princess turns into a frog.  Very cute.  My daughter was 8 when we read these books.

My children love the Skippyjon Jones books.  They are about a siamese cat who thinks he is a chihuahua.  I like reading them as much as the kids enjoy listening.

Rainbow goblins is a book with awesome drawings, very colorful and for a christmas themed book, The Christmas miracle of Johnathan toomey, my boys love this one, another really cool idea are two books put out by Atheneum found at Borders or Barnes and Noble I believe, they are titled Santa Claus and Santa's Reindeer, these are fun book to read together or alone w pages that have flip ups and enveleopes with notes inside, these will be classics, something the children will look forward to pulling out year after year.

Matt,

Any Caldacott winner is always a good choice (this is a special award for children's books).  The classics are always a good idea:  Where the Wild Things Are, Blueberry's for Sal, Make Way for Ducklings, etc.  Also, the Dr Seuse (?) books.  I always enjoyed Are You My Mother?, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Green Eggs and Ham, etc.  The Curious George Books are good also.  Good Luck.  Books are a great way to help children learn.  You can also get books pertaining to subjects they are interested in, like dinosaurs, drawing, fashion, etc.

My son, age 9 -- likes Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Percy Jackson & the Olympian series by Rick Roirdan. He also reads Captain Underpants (mentioned in another post)  and Stink, (Judy Moody's little brother) by Megan McDonald.

I make children's personalized books with the child's name, friends name and etc.  If this is something you are interested in, you can email me at andersonrse at fairpoint dot net.  Hope this helps.
