Incoming kindergarten students
Does anyone have some great tips to share regarding introducing Box Top collection to parents and students entering Kindergarten? We have our Kindergarten round up during the month of March.

RE: Incoming kindergarten students
I read the Coordinator's section on the round up. I plan to follow it to the letter: Get the parents email and send them the link. I also ordered a pack of Box Top brochures from the store to give to the parents to introduce them to our program. I will have banners up and posters with the current promotion going on, "Get on the Bus" for the families to see. As we have a lot of Asian families I will have a couple of products to show them what a box top is, as I discovered many do not know what they are. Just remember be really up beat about the program. I will give them a ziploc bag with the logo on it to collect Box tops for September.
I haven't seen the brochures, but if they don't include the participating products list then I will include it with the brochure. If they don't arrive in time then I will print out a welcome letter, the list, and a copy of "what's the buzz about." from the coordinator section. I'm looking forward to the round up with great enthusiam. New families means more box tops.

I have made a "letter" that i will tape to the front of a gallon size ziploc that explains the program. In the bag i will include 2 small notes to be taped to qt or snack size bags and given to friends/neighbors/coworkers, as well as the "get on the bus" flyer.
If you would like to see what I made email me at subeasley at earthlink dot net
Our kindy orientation is packed with inof and no time for us to talk about boxtops, so i will just make sure everyone gets a bag when they leave.

I put together my letter to the parents (we participate in a couple labels programs) plus the info on how to earn and participating products, attached it all to a zip-loc baggie for the parents to save box tops in over the summer

RE: Incoming kindergarten students
I am a coordinator.
At the beginning of the school year, I will send home a letter explaining who I am and how the program works. It's already mostly written and I'll polish up and translate it into Spanish the week before school starts.
I am printing up small address labels for each child to write his/her name on in class. Label goes onto the baggy (sandwich or snack size is all they are going to need) and the baggy is attached to the letter. I am also the Campbell's Label coordinator for our school, so I've put the logos for both programs onto the labels as a reminder.
With 1000 students in our school, this procedure will get the children directly involved and motivated and not overwhelm parents.

RE: Incoming kindergarten students
At our kindergarten kickoff night, I printed off the "Get on the bus with box tops" brochure and handed it out. Also, our PTO paid for $20 worth of box tops products and we had a free drawing. These days, who couldn't use some groceries, and it's a great way to show a lot of different products that have box tops on them. Of course, I reminded the winner to save the box tops! When school starts, each new kindergarten student is given a folder with lots of information, included in this is how our schools box tops program works and includes a list of participating products.

RE: Incoming kindergarten students
I was just going to suggest that you put together a "packet" and include a picture and a list of elgible
products. You could also show your new parents what your pta or pto has used this money for in the past.
By providing a visual and a list you may have a better response. I am going to get mine ready now while
I have a break between deadlines. Hope I have helped you. Beth

They are available in the coordinators store, so sign on to the coordinators website and you can find them there, they also have things like pencils, stickers, magnets, collection boxes, etc.
