RE: Tips for Picky Eaters
I have a very picky eater, and on occasion I can convince her to try something new by:
A. Let her watch her older brother eat it, b/c she always wants to do what he does.
B. Let her dip the new food in ketchup, mustard, ranch, syrup ect.
C. Pretend that the new food is so good that I don't want to share until curiosity gets the best of her.
D. Make it fun and let them help. Make things like smoothies or frozen pops out of new fruits they might be afraid to try b/c of color or texture.
Lastly, don't force them to try new foods or make a big deal out of it. Just pretend you could care less if they try it, eat your own dinner instead of putting all the focus on them, and remember that you will win some and loose some in the food wars (and every other kind of wars while they grow up).
Hope this helps:)

RE: Tips for Picky Eaters
My 7 year old Daughter loves animals. We found a 50cent machine that has little plastic doggies in it. They have become her currency. She'll try almost any food once, knowing that a successful eating of that new food (it's maybe 2 bites and is usually a vegetable) will get her a doggy the next time we're out near that machine. Could be as much as three or four days later, so it's not an instant-gratification for her.
She has discovered she LOVES snow peas and water chestnuts. The day she tried them, she ended up walking around with a bunch of water chestnuts in her hand, munching on them after dinner. lol
