Back to School Ideas

Can you please share your ideas on how you inform the parents of new kids to the school about collecting box tops.  And how do you remind existing parents to keep clipping and turning in the box tops.  Thank you!

We will be having a display by the PTA booth at registration.  On it will be information about box tops, soup labels, capri sun pouches and pop tabs.  This way they see all the items that we collect for the kids.  I will have a drawing for a basket of box tops products for everyone who gives me their email address to sign them up.  I will have a drawing for the kids too, M&M's and see who gets the closest to the count to win the jar.  This will help pull the parents to the table to talk to them about each of our collections.

I have started creating my basket.  I figure whoever wins it will have over 30 box tops to turn in! I received several items free at the Box Top University that I am using in the basket. I will do a smaller basket for campbells.

MY main goal is to speak to every teacher and room mom about ordering online for Oriental Trading by using the box top marketplace.  I know there are some untapped dollars to be had just by doing that.  I figure if I can lure them there with that one company, the rest will follow. At the end of the year I found out that we lost $$$$ on this alone by them not going through box top web site.

I will be having two sandwich boards made for my kids to wear during the openhouse with information on box tops too. On this board it will show this:

1 box top      x .10 = .10  x 9 month  =   .90                        .90 x 750 students = $675.00

5 box tops    x  .10 = .50  x 9 months =  4.50                     4.50 x 750 students = $3375.00

10 box tops  x  .10 = 1.00 x 9 months = 9.00                    9.00 x 750 students = $6750.00

I am hoping the visual of the #'s will really show them that every box tops helps!

And I hope to have internet access to show them what is on the website for box tops and how to sign up for the contests and show them that cute new video of box tops thanking everyone for hitting their 300 million mark.

I am getting excited for the fall season to begin.  I have most of my contest figured out, prized ready to roll.

Lori excellent idea about the basket. I too will use this idea. Also I really love the visual. That is a great way to inform the parents.

Would you please describe exactly what information for Box Tops you will present? Also will you be giving out collection sheets that day? If you are would you post the collection sheet. I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I will be using the pamphlets from the box top store to tell about online shopping at the marketplace.  I specifically want to point out Oriental Trading. I will also have a visual of the stores available to shop and what % they give back to the school.   I will be showing them the first contest planned, which for our school is for 8 telescopes (beginner ones that I got on clearance at CVS for $5 each).  One winner per grade level.  That collection sheet is specifically made for the telescopes.  for every 5 box tops turned in,they get their name in the drawing for their grade level.

On another separate piece of paper, I will have the Imagine what one child can do,,, Imagine what one school can do.I will also hand out magnets that I ordered from the box top store to the first 100 that sign up thier email address.  I will have examples of the box tops cut out as well, showing them how to look for expiration dates.  And I have box top pencils to hand out to kids. Also a sheet explaining how we spend the money too.

I have most of the collection sheets done for the year, I hope to post them on the PTO Today website since this doesn't really give a spot to do that. I am not very good on this computer stuff.   My August contest is Telescopes, September is for electronic money jars (for every 10 box tops their name gets in the drawing for one of 4 jars). October is a class room challenge: 1st= pizza party 2nd= donuts 3rd= popsicle at recess.(this contest is done by percentage collected per class.) November is our book fair so our contest is $5 gift certificates to spend at the book fair. December is for Quiz calculators (One winner per grade level, every 5 box tops is one entry).  January is class bucks for a goodie bag. Feb is ??  March is "March Madness" for a goodie bag. April is "Earth Day" for a snow cone party and May is?? .  But if you get me your email address, I can forward them to you.  My email is:   **********************

How do you keep the M&M's from melting in FL?  LOL!  Great Idea but our new principal will not allow candy to be a "prize" - UGH!  thanks for sharing your tips....

August 15 is the time frame for the winners to be announced for the Race Mom's sweepstakes.  I had wrote that date in my calendar to remind myself.  Hope this helps.
