Clipping boxtops
Hi-I am a new coordinator. I'm wondering if it is necessary to clip all the box tops perfectly on the dotted line. I have been cutting them but not perfectly. The last coordinator said that they will be rejected if not clipped perfectly. However, I do not see anything about this on the webssite. Please advise. thanks, Lorie

Hello, I am a new coordinator too and I read they did not have to be clipped/cut perfectly. They should not be expired. When you log onto the Box Tops site as a coordinator, you can download the coodinator kit.

Hi Lorie,
We are also new at this (2nd year). We did not cut them 'perfectly' last year and did not get any feedback in that regards, plus credit for more or less of what we turned in.
Good luck to you

They don't have to be trimmed, But I trim because it saves on weight when shipping.

Thanks for letting me know! It's good to know-this will save me some time. The last coordinator did boxtops for 5 years and cut each one on the dotted line. She definetly spent more time than she had to. Enjoy your week!

If you are a coordinator who has questions, I understand there is a special forum just for coordinators. I imagine that's where you can get the "scoop" on these and many other questions. I am not sure how to get on the coordinator forum but I do see a "coordinator log-in" at the top of this webpage, so maybe that takes you there.

RE: Clipping boxtops
My complaint is the size of some of the coupons. Juicy Juice by Nestle should be commended for good size coupons. General Mills on the other hand often has coupons which are so small, that they can only be read with a magnifying glass! Since General Mills is the primary sponsor of this program, I would think that coupons on their boxes would be of a uniform size and large enough to see clearly. Be proud of the program General Mills!! These finger-tipped size coupons are difficult to handle, hard to cut out of the card stock box, and easily lost. I call for larger uniform coupons!!!

I think the size of the Box Top often depends on the size of the package. Since the majority of them are on food products, the package has to contain certain info required by the FDA, and often times it also need direction on how to cook it. I think some of them are very tiny, too, but I would rather have a tiny one on a package then none.

RE: Clipping boxtops
General Mills is the parent company. Nature Valley is a subsidiary that merely reports and sends earnings to GM. Each subsidiary is responsible for the size and placement of the coupon on their own packaging...and for updating that expiration date.
I agree that some of the coupons are mighty small. I've stopped looking at expiration dates. Parents count on me to send 'em all in regardless of how they've been cut or what the expiration date is, so that's exactly what I do!
To make it easier on myself in bundling, I use 2" x 3" zip bags I've accumulated in my business. I have dozens of them ready for stuffin'! And guess what??? You can stuff 100 of them into a baggy and GM won't say a thing!
Really, they're not the Gestapo. You won't be punished for not cutting straight or for putting more than 50 in a bundle. There are far more important things to worry about -- like HOW to SPEND the MONEY!

RE: Clipping boxtops
I too really HATE those teeny weeny ones as they are VERY, VERY hard on arthritic hands but in the same respect when ever possible I cut them all around the same size for easier handling ... I also peal the backs off of most to also save on postage ... some will say to use certain envelopes which works well for them but I mail in ALOT at a time so $ for $ I am still getting the most reasonable rates. Just figure what works out best for you and go with it ... have some fun because the bottom line is is that we are ALL making (free) money for our schools out of wrappers, cereal tops etc that people would just throw away in the trash!! We call in "Trash to Treasure"!! Debi ( PS Hi Tyler!!!)
