My Class Essentials
What is My Class Essentials™?
My Class Essentials is an easy way to help classrooms get the learning tools and supplies that students need while giving school supporters another way to earn cash for their school. Through the Box Tops website, teachers can create a free, online registry for their class with all the items and supplies their classroom needs. Parents and other classroom supporters can then view their child’s classroom registry and purchase the items that are needed or simply donate money to the classroom registry. The classroom, students and teachers get the items they need, and their school earns a 2% cash donation on every purchase! Through My Class Essentials parents also have the opportunity to shop the registry catalog for educational items to be used at home. Purchases made through shopping the catalog will also earn a 2% cash donation to the designated school.
How does it work?
Teachers choose from over 6,000 available products to create a free, online registry of supplies for their classroom. Parents can then view their child’s classroom registry and purchase the items that are needed. The classroom, students and teachers get the items they need, and their school earns a 2% cash donation on every purchase.
Can registry items be purchased for use at home?
Through My Class Essentials parents also have the opportunity to shop the registry catalog for educational items to be used at home. Purchases made through shopping the catalog will also earn a 2% cash donation to the designated school.
What types of products are available on the registry?
The registry offers over 6,000 products, at competitive prices, from well-known educational suppliers. Products are broken out into 13 categories ranging from Skill Builders, Free-Time Reading Books, Classroom Supplies, Bulletin Boards, and more.
How can school supporters find their classroom’s registry?
All school supporters need to do is sign up or log into the Box Tops website and go to the My Class Essentials section. There, they’ll see a list of participating teachers at their school. Once they select a classroom to support, they can view that teacher’s registry.
What if I can’t find my classroom/teacher?
Spread the word! School supporters can download a flyer to give to their teachers or send a personalized email about the My Class Essentials program right from the Box Tops website.
What if school supporters buy something for their teachers that is not from a My Class Essentials registry?
Purchases must be made directly off a teacher’s My Class Essentials registry in order for a 2% donation to be credited to that teacher’s school.
Can a school supporter just make a cash donation to a classroom instead of buying an item from their teacher’s registry?
Yes, but only if they donate it through their teacher’s My Class Essentials registry page will they receive a 2% donation to their school.
Do school supporters pay more for the purchases they make off a My Class Essentials registry?
No. There are no extra fees when school supporters shop through the My Class Essentials program.
How do I track purchases school supporters have made through My Class Essentials?
Go to the Your School section, where you’ll find your school's earnings to date for each component of the Box Tops program. Please note that it can take six to eight weeks for program earnings to be reflected in your account. For details, see the

What should I do if a purchase isn’t reflected in our school’s My Class Essentials earnings?
If a school supporter has made a registry purchase and you don’t see it reflected in your My Class Essentials earnings, first determine how long it's been since their purchase was made. Because of the way the registry system is set up, it can take six to eight weeks for information to be posted to your school’s account. If you feel that a donation has not been credited to your school after eight weeks from the date of purchase, let Box Tops know so that we can investigate.
What if a teacher returns something purchased off his/her My Class Essentials registry?
School donations are subject to adjustment if you later return purchased item(s), cancel your purchase, or obtain a refund from the merchant.

Credit will be posted to the registry piggy bank or credited back to the purchasing credit card. Shipping on the return may be the responsibility of the sender. Due to health concerns, headwear and food items cannot be returned.
What if multiple people accidentally buy the same thing off a teacher’s registry?
Once a product has been selected and put in the shopping cart, the registry is immediately updated to reflect that the item has been fulfilled.
Some families have children who attend different schools. Can they support multiple schools with My Class Essentials?
Yes, consumers can select more than 1 classroom to support, even if those classrooms are from different schools, through the My Class Essentials program. However, their main Box Tops account can still only support one primary school at this time for earning through the Clip, Marketplace and Reading Room programs.
How does the school earn Box Tops?
The school earns a 2% donation on every product purchased from My Class Essentials. The earnings are electronic and automatically applied to the school and can be spent on whatever the school wants. It’s that easy!
Where will the donations be sent?
Items purchased from the classroom registry will be sent directly to the teacher’s school.
What is the "Piggy Bank"?
The Piggy Bank allows supporters to simply and easily donate money to the classroom registry. The money appears as a credit in the Piggy Bank and allows the teacher to purchase classroom items from the registry at his or her discretion. Piggy Bank credits can only be used to purchase items from the classroom registry.
Does the Piggy Bank credit expire?
Yes, Piggy Bank cash expires 12 months from the time it is posted in the piggy bank, at which time the money transfers to the school via a Box Tops check. For more information and check timing, please see our

When will the donated products ship to the classroom?
Want by date: When teachers choose products for their registry they choose a date they want the products in their classroom. -- the "Want By Date". Donations to the classroom will be shipped to arrive by that date. If "Want by Date" is not designated by the teacher, purchased donations will ship within 2 weeks of the purchase date.
When will purchased products, for personal use, be shipped to the purchasers'home?
Purchased products will ship within 48 hours of order receipt.
