BOX TOPS MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Box Tops has always believed that a child’s education is the foundation for achieving their fullest potential. As part of General Mills’ commitment to help advance equity in education, we now have a renewed focus to help the students who need it most. While participants can still support the school of their choice, we are making it easier to find and support a school in need.

With that in mind, we’re highlighting the stories of teachers working at schools in need who have gone above and beyond to make an impact both in the classroom and in the lives of their students. Watch as we surprise each of these deserving teachers with a gift from Box Tops for Education!

Surprising a PE Teacher at ICEF View Park Middle School

P.E. teacher Benito "Benny" Mendez implemented the STOKED program at ICEF View Park Middle School, using sports to promote leadership, but he didn't have the funds to offer it to many students — so we gave him a helping hand.

Teaching Students How to Play at Jefferson Elementary School

Principal Robert Estrada enlisted the help of Make Recess Count to help revamp the school recess program at Jefferson Elementary School. Turns out, teaching students how to play helps empower them in the classroom, too! To thank Principal Estrada for his leadership, Yoplait and Box Tops surprised him with a playground makeover of our own.

Giving back to teachers who go above & beyond

Middle school teacher Ambry Johnson doesn't just help students succeed academically, she helps make them better all-around people. She goes out of her way to provide clothing, technology—even her own computer—for kids at her school. We're thanking Ms. Johnson with a big surprise.

Fostering a Love of Reading

When schools were shut down during the pandemic, Ms. G kept up a weekly virtual storytime to stay connected with students and foster their love of reading. "I did everything I could to stay relevant and be in their face so they would remember me and remember the library!" Watch what happened when we hid a surprise note inside this inspiring librarian's storybook.

A Gift for "Captain"

Teacher John "Captain" Arthur goes out of his way to make his students feel safe and valued at Meadowlardk Elementary, a school located in one of the most economically challenged neighborhoods in Utah. He comes up with fun ways to get them excited about learning — including making their own music video on YouTube! We gave this deserving teacher a gift to help his students continue to tell their stories on camera.

Sunshine After the Flood

Ms. Williams goes above and beyond as a kindergarten teacher at Briar Vista Elementary School, including using her own money to buy supplies for her students to ensure they have what they need. When heavy rains caused her classroom to flood, we surprised her with a special gift to help restock her classroom and give her students a chance to finish their first year of school strong.

Mrs. Gast's Garden

It's not your average kindergarten class: In a year that was challenging for everyone, see how Mrs. Gast used a school garden to help her students grow. We surprised her with a gift so she can provide this hands-on experience to even more kids.

Celebrating STEM

Ms. Mabion is in charge of the school's STEM program at African-Centered College Prep— and the kids love her lessons! We're celebrating her passion for teaching with a gift to help give her students even more opportunity to learn.
