Box Tops for Education Overview
Ways to Earn Cash for Your School
Cash can be earned for your school through the Box Tops for Education program in a variety of ways:
- The Clip program allows you to earn cash for your school by clipping the Official Box Tops for Education "Box Tops" from the packages of hundreds of purchased participating products. A list of participating products may be accessed at www.boxtops4education.com/earn/participating-products.
- Bonus Box Tops and Bonus Box Tops offers are presented from time to time in various ways. Some need to be provided to an enrolled Box Tops for Education School. Others are credited to your school’s account when you participate in the offer as a registered member of Box Tops for Education
Bonus Box Tops can be in the form of
a physical certificate printed or stickered on the package purchased in a store during a special offer. These certificates must be provided to an enrolled Box Tops for Education School (for submission by the School Coordinator before their expiration date).
Credits earned or awarded through your participation in various promotional offers, opportunities or programs such as the Box Tops for Education Bonus App, online sweepstakes, website or email registration, receipt scanning or making applicable purchases in participating retailer shopping card loyalty programs. Occasionally a printed code will be provided for your purchase or participation in promotional offers such as these. In such cases, the code must be redeemed online to be credited to your school. These Bonus Box Tops may sometimes be referred to as eBoxTops. You must be enrolled online as a Box Tops for Education member and supporting a designated eligible school to be able to earn Bonus Box Tops this way.
Each Bonus offer will have specific redemption instructions that must be followed. Information regarding the Box Tops for Education Bonus App can be found at http://www.boxtops4education.com/bonusapp. General information regarding Bonus Box Tops can be accessed through http://www.boxtops4education.com/bonus-box-tops.
Maximum Annual Earning Amount
Each eligible school participating in the Box Tops for Education program may earn up to, but not more than, $20,000 cash per year (beginning on March 2 of every year) from the Clip program. There are no maximum annual earning limits for schools for Bonus Box Tops, eBoxTops credits, or Bonus eBoxTops credits. However, individual eBoxTops programs may have independent consumer earning limits based on transactions or activities.
Program Restrictions and Unacceptable Submissions
Box Tops and Bonus Box Tops certificates may be validly submitted only if they were clipped from product packaging by the final purchaser of the product contained in that packaging. Similarly, Bonus Box Tops codes and receipts for the Box Tops Bonus App may be validly used only by the final purchaser of the product. By way of example, if Box Tops or Bonus Box Tops are clipped from packaging material that is not part of the final sale of all components of the underlying product to the end purchaser of the product, submission of these Box Tops or Bonus Box Tops is not permitted. In addition, the reproduction, modification, purchase, sale, or trade of Box Tops or Bonus Box Tops is not permitted, renders these items invalid, and renders any attempt to submit these items invalid. Moreover, any Box Tops or Bonus Box Tops that have been defaced, mutilated, forged, rendered unreadable, or altered in any way, or that are missing expiration dates or alphanumeric codes are invalid and may not be submitted. UPC symbols are not a substitute for valid Box Tops and may not be submitted. General Mills reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject and to decline payment for (and/or permit other companies whose products participate in the Box Tops for Education Program to reject and to decline payment for) Box Tops or any form of Bonus Box Tops in the event that General Mills determines, in its sole discretion, that they are invalid, expired, fraudulent, or otherwise prohibited by these Official Rules or that they are acquired, transferred, clipped, or submitted impermissibly, invalidly, fraudulently, or otherwise in a manner not permitted by these Official Rules. All submissions become the property of General Mills. When a school or school coordinator submits Box Tops or Bonus Box Tops certificates, failure to complete and include the online submission form, with its bar code unique to that school and that submission, for each submission package will invalidate that particular submission. Schools and/or coordinators are subject to expulsion from the Box Tops for Education program in the event that such school and/or any associated coordinator promotes the sale or purchase of Box Tops or Bonus Box Tops, knowingly submits fraudulent Box Tops, or otherwise knowingly promotes activity that violates the rules in this paragraph.
General Mills, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to cancel without obligation, or alter the terms of, the Box Tops for Education program at any time.
Each participating school must designate a school coordinator in order to participate in the Box Tops for Education Clip program. School coordinators will be able to add or remove themselves, or to add others, as coordinators for their schools. However, General Mills reserves the right at its discretion to remove a school coordinator from the program at any time if it determines that the school coordinator is a detriment to the Box Tops for Education program.
Submitted Ideas, Suggestions and Information
All comments, suggestions, ideas, notes, drawings, concepts, recipes or other information disclosed or offered to General Mills through the Box Tops for Education program shall be deemed and shall remain the property of General Mills. By submitting any suggestion, idea or other information, you consent to its use by General Mills, including but not limited to its publication. You understand and acknowledge that General Mills has both internal resources and other external resources which may have developed or may in the future develop ideas identical to or similar to the suggestion or comments and that General Mills is only willing to consider the suggestion on these terms. In any event, any suggestion, comment or idea is not submitted in confidence and General Mills assumes no obligation express or implied by considering it. Without limitation, General Mills shall exclusively own all now known or hereafter existing rights to the suggestions of every kind and nature throughout the world and shall be entitled to unrestricted use of the suggestions or comments for any purpose whatsoever, commercial or otherwise without compensation to the provider of the suggestion(s).
To receive payment for any Box Tops, or Bonus Box Tops, schools must be enrolled and determined to be active in the Box Tops for Education program. If the designated school is determined to be inactive or ineligible in the program, any Box Tops, or Bonus Box Tops, submitted or earned on behalf of that school will be deemed invalid. Checks will be made payable to the designated, active school; however they can be made payable to a school parent teacher organization (along with the school name) if specifically requested by the school upon enrollment. Payments made to schools are not tax-deductible by schools, participants or purchasers. Payments will be made twice each school year, by December 31st and by April 30th . Each payment will include amounts earned by schools from the Clip program and from any form of Bonus Box Tops. The December payment will reflect the amounts confirmed from March 2nd through the following November 1st, and the April payment will reflect the amounts confirmed from November 2nd through March 1st. Schools that accrue total earnings of less than $20.00 from March 2nd through the following November 1st will not be issued a December payment. Instead, those earnings will carry over and a payment will be issued for the entire school year to those schools in the April payment. Checks will be mailed to the school’s address by the end of the month (December/April). If a school fails to cash any Box Tops for Education program check within 18 months of issuance, then the school shall forfeit its right to receive such payment. Active status in the Box Tops for Education program, and entitlement to any earnings, is conditioned upon the school cashing all earnings checks within 18 months of issuance. General Mills imposes this condition because of the time and cost associated with administering uncashed program payments for extended periods of time. General Mills will not replace checks requested more than 18 months after the original check was issued. Proof of shipment and a valid copy of your online submission form will be required in order to research any discrepancies or payment disputes.
Rules for Clipping Box Tops

Qualifying Box Tops can be found on packages of participating General Mills products and various partner brands. Qualifying products are subject to change. For a list of participating products visit www.boxtops4education.com/earn/participating-products. The expiration date and alphanumeric code must be visible when clipped.
Redemptions and Program Deadline
To redeem qualifying Box Tops or Bonus Box Tops certificates for cash for a designated school, a school coordinator must complete an official Box Tops Submission Form online for each separate shipment, print out the form and include it with the shipment of qualifying Box Tops. For clarity, a print out of each separate completed online submission form with its unique barcode must be included in each submission package. Box Tops should be submitted in bundles of 50 Box Tops and Bonus Box Tops certificates must be kept in separate bundles.
Submissions must be postmarked by November 1st for earnings to be included on December checks and by March 1st to be included on April checks. An exception to these stated postmark deadlines will occur any time November 1 or March 1 falls on a weekend. In such an event, the submission postmark deadline will be the Monday following that weekend. All submissions are subject to verification.
Expired Box Tops
Box Tops and Bonus Box Tops certificates submitted with a postmark after their printed expiration date are considered void and will not be honored.
All postage and shipping charges are the responsibility of the sender. General Mills reserves the right to return boxes or envelopes mailed without sufficient postage. To assist in providing proof of shipment, a trackable method of delivery is suggested. General Mills is not responsible for late, lost or misdirected mail.
General Mills is not liable or responsible in any way for inaccuracies that may be displayed on www.boxtops4education.com relating to earned or pending amounts, whether as a result of human or mechanical error or otherwise.
